asus g72gx screen fix

This is a Best Buy model ASUS g72gx laptop which has a common screen flicker problem. Various fixes and theories have been posted online regarding the cause of the flicker. None of the proposed solutions worked for me, except this one.

Yes. I fixed mine. Just buy a BRAND new (whach it carefully as some parts are being sold as used) LCD Video Cable on ebay for 25 USD and replace it with an old one. That will fix this problem.

I found the problem. The problem is in the rear connector. You have to take off fully LCD screen and check the connector from the rear. The reason in flickers is because it is not connected properly.

I did this and it worked for a few months but the flicker started up again. However another user has found the solution: v=fGx8ZSf_9YE

Works perfectly now. It makes sense that your solution would have helped but not solved the problem entirely, because you’re taping the same wire, just further from the weak connection.

Those two wires are you wifi antenna and would have nothing to do with screen issues

My laptop is still under warranty, got it refurbished from Newegg. Now, should I repair it myself or send it back. I heard that they don’t sell LCD video cable.

FINALLY, after lots of customer service. I found the solution. THEY DO NOT SELL, so you have to e-bay, amazon, find your own way to this. PART NO: 140298011 WHAT IT IS: LCD Video cable.
This is the only way to fix it, and you might have to replace it again. They might have changed the wire length to compensate for them stretching from opening/closing your lid. The problem was with a bad video cable design, too short and stretchy. Pulls the wires from your plugs under the hinges.

I hope that works permanently for you. I ended up purchasing a new laptop recently and hooked my Asus up to the TV by HDMI. No problems with it, as you might imagine, thereafter.

(post too long) … it in the middle back toward the right if you’re facing the computer from the back. I just pushed that in a little farther. I don’t know how much that helped. But after that combo of fiddling and reputing in wires, it has been working for about 10 minutes. I’ll let you know if it stops. I found the courage to put the front face plate back on too (hoping that i won’t need to mess with it again :) ).

So did you ever find out a permanent fix.. cause heres what i did… i did what you did and just fiddled with that wire… it helped but i had to always fiddle with it. So if you look on the bottom on the left ttheres a blue ribbon. I slid up the thing hoding the ribbon in… went oh shit when the ribbon came out. Then I figured out how it worked and put it back in. I then also took the back panal off and theres a ribbon going into it

    THANKS!
After watching this video I got the nerve to open mine up.
I ended up taking the whole screen out, and it appears to be the wire on the left side that plugs into the back of the monitor itself. Mine was not in all the way and its only held in by a piece of tape! I reset the wire and used some GORILLA TAPE to hold it in.

I will report back if it doesn’t fix it but so far everything the bands and the light flickering has stopped even running on the battery only!!!

    *UPDATE*
Unfortunately, this provided only a temporary fix. The laptop began to display screen flicker/vertical lines after a couple weeks. I took it apart again, including the metal frame surrounding the lcd. The flicker/lines occur not because of a wire problem, but when the bottom half of the lcd is not compressed tightly enough. Applying pressure at the bottom center of the lcd (where the metal frame covers the lcd in the video) temporarily solves the problem. I suspect a design problem.
