These 7 Carl & Ray Blockbuster Video commercials are my favorite from the Carl & Ray adventure campaign. Blockbuster’s Carl & Ray commercials ran throughout 2002 — 2003. I love Carl & Ray’s cuteness & zaniness. Tippett Studio created the furry Blockbuster Video characters. (The audio isn’t the best. However, should suffice. Sorry.)
Jon shares his five-year-old prediction on why he thought the American movie-rental chain of stores, Blockbuster, would go out of business… which just last week, announced it was finally filling for chapter eleven. – “The World According To Jon” YouTube ‘visionary’, and creator of the hit web series, “Is It A Good Idea To Microwave This?”, Jon Paula shares his opinionated and enlightened view of the world with you, by way of an unfiltered and somtimes harsh stream-of-consciousness. I remember them canceling that unlimited rentals in stores after about 6 months and replacing it with the 2 dvds out at a time plan by mail. people were pist I was their renting a game when the worker told a customer they had to pay full price for their movies or signed up for the by mail plan.!

That and their own greed was their downfall. they could have had all older movies for 0.99¢ for 2 days rentals and beaten Redbox at their own game but they still wanted to charge $3.99 and in a Recession too. also there’s alot of Movies Redbox and Netflixs don’t have Grandma’s Boy, The Invasion ( The 2006 remake of Invasion of the body snatchers ) Stay Alive, The Mist, ect. but Netflix does have alot of TV show and Documentaries..!

if they were to make a movie about them, I’d watch it (=

You are wrong. Blockbuster closed due to Blockbuster Americas debt being transferred to Canada and then Blockbuster America allowing Canada to sink after Dishnetwork purchased them.

R.I.P blockbuster

Blockbuster started with VHS [Videocasette] sales and rentals. VHS was replaced by DVD. Blockbuster cannot compete in the DVD market with Super Stores selling DVDs cheaply. Now the DVD format is on the decline due to TV’s “Video on demand” and smart phones. You can now watch a movie without all the hassle of leaving your special area — home, car, property. .

I miss renting games. Plus just going there with someone having fun renting a movie. I live in Florida and I already miss it. Waiting in those long lines for thee red box sucks ass, then all the pressure choosing a movie quikly duee to dozens of people behind me.

Im from the UK and i work at blockbuster over here its still going strong, Netflix has just come over here the problem with it is the lack of choice available also blockbuster rents games
5 of our British pounds gets you any new game for 5 nights and unless its the likes of skyrim you can finish it in that amount of time sure beats paying 35-40 for a new game
we also make a ton of cash from preowned games we pay naff all for them then sell them or rent them
loading...
i use thepiratebay
and tv-links lol
In Australia we dont get things like netflix or hulu… so we gotta torrent…
or pay $7 for 48hr rental of a movie…. or buy it for 20$ >.>
and people wonder why Australians pirate everything…

ya know im gonna miss going to movie rental stores finding a few movies and going home excitingly to watch it

Bob Dylan.
How do I get my movies? Any which way I can. An odd method that works better than you might think is looking it up on YouTube. A lot of movies can be found here, not just old, obscure, and unpopular ones.

Blockbuster is still open in England..

How can I look inside a store on the internet?
specially CD Warehouse in Ottawa, Canada on Clyde I tried street views on google maps it won’t let me through the doors stupid internet. I really need to see what it’s look like in 2012. I haven’t been there since 2000. Specially where people listen to new releases with the headphones.
The internet and blackberry are making people lazy to leave the house it’s too hard sorry.
Get off your lazyballs hurry up I mean it

It is sad it is shutting down but im still kind oh happy. Because my aunt works there and she gave us a really big discount and every game movie cost 1 dollar to 3 dollars
loading...
Arested yet?

I don´t remember the las time a went to a Blockbuster :S

And get arrested.

I use veetle.com, amazing site with loads of free movies and tv shows. Netflix on the other hand, in Canada sucks, it doesn’t have anything good to watch and the shows it does have are a season or two behind.
loading...
who need blockbuster or next while you got internet i can get any new movie for free
loading...
there stocks are worth 15 cents

Man, I miss going to the local Hollywood Video store with my parents and siblings. Lots of happy memories of driving there and picking out a VHS (DVD later on) for our usual movie nights. It was a sad day when I found out it was closing. Sure, Netflix and cable is convenient but it is certainly not as satisfying as going to the rental store in person. BTW, Netflix SUCKS unless you have amazing internet.

I’m not at all surprised. When I was very young my family rented movies at a Blockbuster at Bathurst and Eglinton in Toronto. Now most of our rented movies come from Videoflicks, a non franchise video rental store on Avenue Road. Also many Rogers Plus stores allow you to rent movies. We rent there sometimes. They’re doing ok. There must be something else about Blockbuster that resulted in its fail.
loading...
So that’s why the blockbuster in my town closed down :O
