Best case in its price point, December 2, 2011

Phone fits perfectly and it’s a strong case that doesn’t add too much bulk. Is it the “best” case available – no, but for the price point I don’t think you can do any better.

The case back is a matte black silicone (or silicone like) material that is not so slick that the phone will slide off tables and such; However, it is slick enough to allow the phone to slide in and out of pockets with ease.

The front 1/4 of the case is a glossy black and slightly harder, but not a firm ‘plastic’. It is fully flexible and extends above the phone screen about 1/16 of an inch. This allows the phone to be placed face down and not have the screen hit the counter or table.

The case wraps around the phone enough to help protect it but not so much that it interferes with using the phone.

So far, I have found all important ports to be fully accessible. This case would prevent changing or removing the LTE card and the MicroSD card without first removing the case – but so would all cases I have seen for this phone. All other ports I have found to be easily used.

Overall it is quite nice and of the same or better quality than most that retail for 15-25 dollar cases. Is it as durable and protect as well as a 35-50 dollar case – no, but this is not advertised or targeted as a competitor for those type cases.

The screen protector that comes with this case is nicer than expected and easy to apply, the cleaning cloth is nothing special but does work.

    Yes, buy it….

This case has a similar non-slip back to the actual Rezound. It is a typical flexible hard rubber type case. Nothing fancy. This will certainly tide me over until better cases come along.

Good case for price. Difficult to press volume, especially if not installed perfectly., April 13, 2012

I’m pretty happy with this matte black case. It has glossy sides, which make for a nice sticky grip when holding the phone, but the matte back slides very easy into my pocket. I’m glad I didn’t get the glossy back, as it feels like it would be more sticky than slippery. I am a little upset that there is a “TC” on the back of the matte cases, but I can get over that. It does not add much bulk to the phone; it’s a pretty tight fit.

Before I used the TPU case, I had a Skinomi TechSkin covering the whole body (including the front bezel). I was happy enough with this, but it gave the back cover a strange shine. Moreover, the bezel part of the skin would peel up sometimes in my pocket and get lint under it. I left the skin on the phone and carefully installed the TPU case around it. That was difficult to do because the TPU case fits very tightly around the phone, and so the edges tended to want to push the TechSkin bezel covers around. Now that it’s on, I’m afraid to ever take it off for fear it will peel my TechSkin back.

As some have noted, the volume buttons are difficult to push because the TPU case doesn’t have cutouts around the volume. Instead, they put softer TPU above the volume buttons, and so you sometimes you have to use a finger nail (or similar) to depress them to get to your volume buttons. I have noticed though that if the case isn’t installed “straight” (i.e., if the case doesn’t firmly wrap all the way around the top front of the phone), the buttons are much harder to press. If you manage to seat the phone properly inside the case, the volume issue isn’t as bad.

I also notice that because there are two cut outs in the top of the case (for headphones and power), there is a tendency for the case to not hold on as firmly to the phone there. This may be a reason why they didn’t put yet another cut out in the case for the volume buttons.

You might notice a little extra creaking when using the phone with the case due to the case interfacing with the phone, but the phone’s back cover often creaks anyway.

So for the price, I’m *very* happy with the case. As cases though, it’s not the best, but it’s certainly not the worst, and it’s a good value. I feel very comfortable that my phone is safe inside the case, and I feel like my phone-pocket experience has actually improved since I started using it despite the extra bulk (and there’s not much extra bulk at all! It’s a tight fit!).
