Moving on from the transformable tablet/laptop combo, Asus has moved to the all-in-one space with its new Transformer AiO, a full-blown Windows 8 machine with a detachable 18.4-inch display, that also doubles as a standalone Android slate.

The PC itself is powered by a third generation Intel Core processor, with graphics courtesy of Nvidia’s beefy GT 730M, but it’s the full HD 18.4-inch display that’s really surprising. When detached from the main PC body, the Transformer AiO turns into a massive Android 4.1 Jelly Bean tablet at the touch of a button, and with an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core chip behind the screen, the large slate can handle anything thrown at it.

Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on when this curious hybrid-device will go on sale, or how much it’ll cost, but between this and Lenovo’s insane 27-inch Windows table turned tablet, we’re seeing the beginnings of a whole new computing category.

Do you think hybrid all-in-ones are the next big thing, or do you like to keep your tablets on the small side? Let us know in the comments.
