I am still learning but this Samsung Pixon 12 phone is fantastic so far. The camera is the best – 12mp, good lense, zoom and has lots of settings you can adjust or use smart mode and it will do the work for you. Pictures are clear and can be blown up to 8 x 10 without losing any quality. The video is fair to good – better than my old Samsung phone (SGH-600) video but not as good as a stand alone HD video camera. It has internet, WiFi and email capabilities. Good (for me) is that it doesn’t require an internet plan, therefore no monthly charge for internet. I use it via WiFi networks and it works beautifully (a little slow but for free, who cares). I am still exploring all the widgets – there are a lot. Obviously the phone itself works fine with all the usual bells and whistles. As of right now, I would highly recommend this phone. It works great on my A T & T service. After I use the phone / camera longer, I will try to enter another “written review” with updated information.

Outstanding ‘feauture’ phone, May 3, 2011

Bought this to replace my drowned Moto Zine ZN5

I’ve become hooked on a ‘single gadget solution”: I require my phone to be a good phone, camera, and music player. I do not want or need a smartphone. The Zine was good, though lacking in stability. It got me spoiled, taking great pictures.

Changing to Pixon was easy as swapping the SIM card (t-mobile).

    Phone features:
    -great call voice quality
    -strong speakerphone
-solid call quality even with low signal
    -fast and responsive
-when placing a call, phone automatically locks the screen, requiring 2-sec hold of unlock buttong, then searching for the keys you want to bring up the keypad, erase the vm, turn on the speakerphone, whatever. In the meantime the call continues and you miss what the other person (or machine) is saying. GRRR! Cannot turn this off!! ONly major gripe.

    Camera:
-GREAT picture quality, better than my (at the time very nice) 2yr old point and shoot.
    -fast camera action
-good compression algorithms: I normally shoot at about 5mp to allow easy email-size (around 1mb per pic). Pic quality is still very good
    -great video and audio quality
    -strong flash!!
-very good auto color balance: colors look natural and full.
-works very well in low-light conditions (long exposure ‘night’ mode)
-video records a lot of tick-tick-tick noise from the lens adjusting
-cannot zoom while in video mode: can set a zoom and then record, but not adjust during recording.
-very good zoom in camera mode
-did I mention FAST? this is a huge plus for me. You hit the button, it GOES.
-Lens cover!! another peeve for me on other ‘camera phones’. Must have lens cover.

    Music player
-good quality, nothing fancy, fast response to keys, I like it.

    Other:
-Build quality is SOLID. It is hefty and feels like $$. Metal, no creak, no flex.
-Good size: not too big, not too small
-Screen is gorgeous but does get washed out in daylight
    -Great battery life.
    -strong wi-fi, easy set-up
-solid touch-screen action: takes a solid tap, not as slick as iphone, but very functional
-fairly steep learning curve figuring out what all the buttons do
-no 3.5mm jack (boo!) but adapter included
-Samsung widgets are mostly silly, but that’s OK
-Internet on wifi is fast and very useable. I’ve not used internet on the t-mobile service.
-Touchscreen is less efficient than fixed keys, takes more taps and often 2 hands to perform a task. But you get the benefit of bigger screen.

    Wrap-up:
If you want a solid ‘feature phone’ this is great. I seldom use any phone feautures other than phone, music, and camera. If this describes you, this is a great, high-quality, slick phone.
